Six-Year-Old Girl Survives Vicious Dog Attack in Stoke-on-Trent

A six-year-old girl named Angel-Mae Dawson narrowly escaped a grim fate after being brutally attacked by a dog in Meir, Stoke-on-Trent.

A Peaceful Playtime Turns Gruesome

The incident occurred while Angel-Mae was enjoying an innocent playtime outside her home along with her brother and cousins. The day took a harrowing turn when an unleashed German Shepherd emerged on their street, setting its sights on the young girl.

Her parents, Jack Dawson (28), and his partner witnessed the unfolding horror as the dog latched onto Angel-Mae’s legs and violently shook her.

“The dog went straight for my daughter… It was literally a few seconds, but within a few seconds, the dog had managed to do a lot of damage,” recounts Jack, still reeling from the incident.

Mother’s Cry Saves the Day

In the face of such an atrocious attack, Angel-Mae’s mother’s desperate scream was what startled the dog into releasing her. Jack expressed his deep admiration for his partner’s instinctive response, “Her mum had screamed with such a mother’s desperation.

It scared the dog away… My daughter would not be alive today if it wasn’t for my partner saving her life.” With no time to spare, the parents quickly transported their injured daughter to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

Angel-Mae’s Road to Recovery

At the hospital, Angel-Mae was found to have sustained five puncture wounds on her legs and two on her back, in addition to severe bruising. She’s currently receiving treatment for possible infections related to the attack.

A Cautionary Tale for Parents and Pet Owners

In the aftermath of the traumatic incident, Jack appeals to other parents and pet owners: “Do not let your kids play out without you watching… Just because there are dogs in the street, doesn’t mean they are friendly.

if a dog is vicious enough to do as much damage as it did to my daughter, in such a short time, it should be terminated or at least put somewhere where it can be looked after, isolated away from children.”
