Man in Gurugram Apprehended for Abusing Stray Dogs and Hurling Them from His Roof
A Gurugram resident was recently arrested following disturbing CCTV evidence of him savagely assaulting stray dogs.
The man’s actions have sparked an outcry among animal rights advocates, highlighting the pressing need for more robust animal protection measures in India.
Inhumane Acts Against Stray Dogs: A Tale of Torture
On June 1, Hoshiyar Singh, the accused from New Palam Vihar Phase 1, was reportedly seen on camera abducting two dogs from a street and taking them to his home in the Bajghera area.
In a horrifying act, he subjected the dogs to brutal violence before flinging them onto the road from his roof, as stated in the complaint by Anubhav Sharma, an animal rights worker.
After witnessing this abhorrent incident, Sharma provided the video footage to the police and ensured medical treatment for the traumatized dogs. He further accused Singh of killing two other dogs in May, adding to the growing concerns about the safety of stray animals in the area.
Legal Action: Justice for the Voiceless
After scrutinizing the damning CCTV footage, the police registered an FIR against Singh under Section 11 of The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, which pertains to causing unnecessary pain to an animal. This legal action was initiated at the Bajghera Police Station.
Station House Officer (SHO) Aman Kumar confirmed the arrest and stated, “We have arrested the accused and are questioning him.”
Stray Dog Electrocuting Incident: Unmasking the Cruelty
Sadly, this isn’t an isolated incident of cruelty against stray animals. A related report disclosed that a serving Haryana Police Sub-Inspector, Randhir Singh, based in Chandigarh, was arrested after electrocuting a stray dog.
This egregious act led to a complaint being filed against him by a neighbor, Kasturi Lal, a retired superintendent of the Chandigarh estate office.
This incident, coupled with Hoshiyar Singh’s cruel actions, underscores the urgent need to enforce stricter laws and foster a culture of empathy and respect for all living beings.
