Tragic Fate: Missing Singaporean Climber’s Dog Succumbs to Seizure on Mt Everest
In a tragic turn of events on the treacherous slopes of Mount Everest, Latte, the loyal dog belonging to missing Singaporean climber Shrinivas Sainis, has met a devastating fate.
The canine, who found true joy and purpose in the presence of her owner, passed away on June 5, succumbing to a severe seizure. This heart-wrenching loss adds another layer of sorrow to the already tragic story of Shrinivas’ disappearance.
Latte’s Distress Echoes Her Owner’s Fate
As Shrinivas embarked on his daring expedition to conquer the mighty Mount Everest, Latte’s health began to deteriorate, mirroring the impending misfortune that awaited her owner.
The signs of Latte’s distress emerged during the second month of Shrinivas’ quest. Her diminishing appetite became a cause for concern, as revealed in a Facebook post by Chained Dog Awareness in Singapore (CDAS).
While a blood test showed no major abnormalities except for high kidney values, Latte’s condition worsened dramatically on the very day her owner reached the summit and went missing.
A Heartbreaking Decline
May 19 marked a tragic turning point for Latte’s well-being. She exhibited alarming symptoms, vomiting blood at home and experiencing a seizure at the veterinary clinic where she was taken for treatment.
Medical examinations unveiled that Latte was in the advanced stage of kidney failure, with a suspected 3cm tumor, possibly an adrenal gland tumor known as pheochromocytoma.
The CDAS, deeply concerned for Latte’s life, appealed to the public for donations to support her medical expenses.
Latte’s Race Against Time
With Latte’s condition deteriorating rapidly, time became a critical factor in her battle for survival. Scheduled for surgery on June 9, Latte’s health took a sudden turn for the worse just four days before the operation.
She began shivering uncontrollably, vomiting incessantly and lost her ability to eat. Despite being admitted to Beecroft for treatment, her condition deteriorated further, leaving her in agonizing pain.
Ultimately, the CDAS faced the heart-wrenching decision to relieve her suffering and let her go peacefully.
A Tale of Resilience and Love
Latte’s life had been marked by hardship even before finding solace in Shrinivas’ care. Previously chained to a cramped bathroom, she was rescued by CDAS after being returned by a family who could not handle her biting incidents.
When Latte found a home with Shrinivas two years ago, her early interactions were filled with hostility and fear. Biting, bared teeth, and resistance defined her demeanor.
But as time went by, Latte’s wounded spirit healed, and she blossomed with love for her new family.
A Heartfelt Farewell
Sushma Soma, Shrinivas’ wife, poured her emotions into a poignant tribute on Instagram, reflecting on the painful yet beautiful bond shared between Latte and her husband.
Letting go of Latte was an agonizing decision, leaving their home empty but their hearts full of cherished memories. Soma’s words serve as a poignant reminder of the profound connection that formed between Shrinivas and Latte, offering solace amidst the sorrow.
As Latte’s story resonates around the world, it serves as a testament to the indomitable spirit of dogs and the enduring love they bestow upon their human companions.
May Latte’s memory inspire compassion and appreciation for the unbreakable bond between humans and their beloved pets.
